El mate “epaulette” La dama da mate y el rey queda atrapada por dos de sus propias piezas a cada uno de sus lados, como si fueran hombreras (epaulette: hombreras de uniformes militares)

Las negras acumulan ventaja material pero las blancas tienen tiempo de montar un ataque en el flanco de rey. Las negras equivocan la defensa y Morphy logra una bonita combinación con el mate epaulette.
